Pics: My 2008 Harley Davidson Softail Deluxe 105th Anniversary Edition

These dealer pics made my decision to buy a little easier! When buying a bike from a dealer or a used bike from an individual, get high resolution photos sent to you so you can blow them up. You need to see all the details! Or better yet, take an experienced rider friend to see the bike in person!

Shopping for my motorcycle

Wow time is flying by....I need to post more often. I want to document my experience as a new female rider. Soooo back to it!

When I got together with Ace I told him that I'd always wanted my own motorcycle and that my DREAM bike was a Harley. We started shopping for my bike by going around to a few of the local motorcycle shops. I sat on of course Harley Davidson's, Kawasaki, Suzuki and BMW.

We also began looking online on Ebay and other sites that had used bikes for sale. Also, we went to YouTube and listened to different bikes that people had posted so that we could here the pipes rumbling. I also looked at some sites that showed photos of women and their bikes.

After sitting on many bikes, I kept coming back to the Harley Davidson Softail Deluxe. It had been my first choice a few years back when they first came out. Prior to the Softtail Deluxe I'd been looking at the Dyna Wide Glide. But the Softail Deluxe won my heart.

When I sat on the bike I noticed my feet were flat on the ground. Be sure to wear your riding boots when sitting on bikes. The Softail Deluxe just felt right. It felt like a glove for my body.
And I loved the white wall tires! A true vintage look to the bike, what I felt had a retro kinda look.

So my decision was made. Now I just needed to find one at a price I could afford. I wanted a new one from my local dealer really bad. It was a new 2009 model that had blue ice/purple paint that changed colors depending on the angle you looked at it. But I just couldn't stomach the $20K+ price tag!

So we ended up finding my DREAM bike on Ebay. I love it! It was the best value out there. We had it shipped to us from Pennsylvania! We bought it from American Classic Motors, a dealer who specializes in used motorcycles. Click on the link on my page to see what he has to offer. His inventory is always changing, so keep checking back. If you see something you like he'll send you photos to look at. I posted the photos he sent me at the top of my page. So now my adventure had begun! My Harley was on the way!

When I decided to stop riding on the back...

From my previous post you know I've always wanted a motorcycle. I made up my mind to just go for it when I came to Montana to visit my high school sweetheart last year after 29 years. His name is Ace. He has a 2001 Harley Davidson Road King he calls BIG RED.

Ace and I went to our local HD dealer and got me outfitted in some leathers. A jacket with a cool HD logo on the front and back, leather chaps that have a white stripe along the side of the legs, leather gloves, goggles, and a 3/4 helmet with a faceshield. I wear contacts and wanted the extra protection from wind on my eyes. I love the outfit and think it looks pretty cool. I'll post some pics later. I think it'll look cool with the white walls on my bike!

Ace took me for some great rides on the back of Big Red while I was here. I was a little nervous at first, but I loved the breeze as we flew by the beautiful mountains. I held tightly around his waist while pressing my boobs against his back. I know he loved that! LOL We went on a stretch of road that seemed to open up from above as we rounded a curve. It was along the Blackfoot River heading up towards Seeley Lake. Looking above at the clouds I then realized this was why they call Montana Big Sky Country. At that very point I made up my mind that I just had to have my own motorcycle.

I've alway's wanted a motorcycle!

Ever since I can remember I've always wanted a motorcycle. I remember as a little kid riding in the back of my parents car or van and seeing a motorcycle I always used to just stare at them. I loved looking at them. I remember thinking how the riders, usually a guy, looked kinda mean or scraggly to me. Sometimes they had tattoos. I kinda feared them...I mean the guys...not the motorcycles. Sometimes I would see a girl on the back of a bike with her arms wrapped tightly around her boyfriend. I thought that was so cool. They usually had on a tight tank top and were so tanned. I loved their tans. Some of the girls also had tattoos. I would think WOW a girl with a tattoo! At the time I didn't know girls could get tattoos. The motorcycles were always really loud to me. They sounded like they had so much power. I loved to hear them roar and rumble as they took off from a stop light. It was really neat to see a whole line of them pull up and take off and letting it rip.
